Komen's Columbus Race for the Cure - A Message from AFSCME Union Brother James Wagner

Having been knocked off a bike last Father's Day, I may have failed to let you know that with the help of over 200 sponsors, I raised the second highest total donations in last year's Komen Columbus Race for the Cure.

I'm better now, back to work (part time so far,) recently allowed to cycle, and just last week started running a bit.  I'm not going to be in the top 700 runners (out of 30,000 last year!)  as in years past, but I'm hoping to raise at least $5,000.00 this year for breast cancer treatment and education in the Columbus area.  That would put me more firmly in second place by last year's donations: the top fund-raiser last year raised over $7,200.00, nearly $3,000.00 more than me.

We all know someone who has been touched by this disease:  last year I wore on my back the names of two friends who died from it, and nearly a dozen who have survived it.  I know you know others.

This year it's easier than ever to pledge to my run--or should I say walk/run?  I'm registered online for donations: just click on the link http://www.active.com/donate/columbusrftc07/JWAGNER312 if you'd like to donate online with a credit card.  You can also email me back if you're in town, and I'll be happy to stop in and pick up your pledge.  Alternatively, you can send me a check made out to "Komen Columbus Race for the Cure," or either half of that if it won't all fit on your check, to 45 West Tulane Road, Columbus, Ohio 43202.  I need to collect the money by the end of this month.

I'm hoping you can increase your pledge from last year: doubling it would help my chances of becoming the highest fund raiser this year, and just adding a dollar will help the Race reach its goal, but anything helps and it's all appreciated, especially by me.

I look forward to hearing from you.  Feel free to drop me a line or give me a buzz at 614.404.3852 if you want to talk, particularly if you want to know other ways you can help me raise funds to reach our goals.

Thanks!

James Wagner
