2011 CWA Local 4502 Negotiating Committee Appointed
The 2011 Local 4502 negotiating committee have been appointed by President Bellous and met today, January 25, 2011 for an all day retreat for the first of two orientations. These orientations were aimed at a general overview of process, statute and rules that regulate collective bargaining. It was an extremely positive experience for everyone involved and a solid footing was laid for future growth as a team. CWA District 4 representative Bill Bain and legal counsel Jonathan Wentz were in attendance to support their roles in the negotiating process.
It was the intention of Local 4502 to include as many City Departments at the table as was reasonably able to be secured. President Bellous appointed talented, knowledgable and passionate individuals and charged them with a commitment to the membership above their own desires and wishes. All of them accepted this oath. The product of this philosophy, is better communication to our people in each of our respective Divisions and better lines of communication during the process. Your elected leadership set the standard (with the 2011 negotiating team) higher than in the past because of substantial financial realities we face as a nation. The first commitment is that the committee will uphold a realistic expectation of goals and attainable contract language. The second commitment presented to your team was the expectaction to professionally and positively represent our members interests before the employer.
CWA Local 4502 stands ready to face these challenges on your behalf and looks forward to being a positive example of what Union representation is all about. To preserve and defend decent jobs still left in America while educating the average American why the Union is a positive influence for corporate and governmental accountability and change. It is worth standing up for; and worth being of a progressive mindset to adapt and overcome the adversity and challenges that face us as a nation, as a state and as a local community.
