Federal Insurance Change Update

The Federal "Affordable Care Act" has created some changes to our Insurance benefits that every member should be aware of. Most notably the increase in age restrictions for children. The Federal mandate is that insurance coverage must be extended for children until the age of 26. Local 4502 met with City Risk Management representatives of June 7, 2010 and received some clarifying information that we have linked on this page. The City intends on implementing the new rules upon renewal of the health insurance program in or about February of 2011.
