New Secure Area on Union Website Offers Member Information

Over the course of the last year, I have been researching and investigating numerous options to enable the Union to offer secure, private access to Local 4502 Executive Committee Minutes. It is a good resource for our members to have access to and educate ourselves on the issues dealt with and how they were resolved. It is a great way to police ourselves and hold accountable those we elect to office. By viewing the official report of Board meetings you may have ideas how to improve and we welcome those ideas!

The Local 4502 Executive Committee is pleased to announce the establishment of a secure area of the Union website which gives us the ability to share information in a manner that is easily monitored, validated and secure. It will be used to share official Union information to members in good standing. The bulletin board has been set up for a “view only” access which allows members the opportunity to view official documents at their convenience. It was decided by the Executive Committee that there are some things that can be shared in the internet environment with security and proper validation – but that items such as financial statements are best kept secured by the Local office for viewing at any time by appointment, and shared at each membership meeting.

It is important that when you register for the new bulletin board, you follow these criteria:

1. Your username MUST be entered as your first and middle initial and last name. If the username is NOT set this way, your registration will be deleted and no further communication will be sent to you.

1. The email address you use should be your personal email address and one that you check frequently. YOUR UNION IS STRONGLY ENCOURAGING YOU TO NOT USE CITY EQUIPMENT OR EMAIL. We will periodically communicate with our registered users via the email address they provide when registering. If we send email verifications to you, and we do not receive a reply email, your account will be deleted and you will have to re-register.

1. When you set your password; be sure to protect it as you would a credit card. If we determine that your account has violated any term of service...the account will be deleted and you will be forced to re-register after a full review by our admin **PLEASE NOTE** The version of bulletin board we use has full I.P. And DNS tracing. Local 4502’s commitment to the membership is to periodically verify that users are not giving access to others. This can be done with simple tracing software.
